Changing Bag Buying Guide

Whether you are looking for a fashionable, trendy, designer changing bag or something more basic, choose a changing bag that is practical, functional and easily cleaned, but also one that still matches your personal style – this is something you will use every day, and is one way you can still “feel like yourself” in the early months when your hair is thrown up and you struggle to find time to shower. The best bag is one you would feel comfortable using after baby is out of nappies – it then becomes an investment rather than just something you use for a year or two.

Make sure your bag fits everything you need to carry but is not bigger than you need, and ensure  it comes with accessories that make your life easier – stroller straps or clips, dirty clothes sacks, insulated bottle carriers, detachable shoulder straps, and matching changing kits or all useful. Bags can actually come with too many pockets which end up taking up the entire changing bag – approximately 6 pockets is a good number as you can stay organised with baby essentials, but still have room for larger items such as a camera or iPad.  Make sure your bag has a shoulder strap as well as metal clips which can be used to attach it to your pushchair with stroller clips such as the Buggy Buddy.

Crux Baby’s favourite brand is Storksak. The fashion editor at Harpers Bazaar has said about the Storksak Sofia: “The Sofia Storksak is the ‘Vuitton’ of baby bags and I can now see why; with its sleek design and many compartments, it truly is the saviour of the new mother” and there are a number of other beautiful changing baby options that don’t look ‘mumsy’ at all. For more colourful designer changing bag options, check out the  Babybeau Ellie Changing Bag or celebrity favourite Il Tutto Nico Changing Bag. Pink Lining Changing Bags are great if you are looking for a more fun and quirky look.

Portable changing kits are highly useful for organising your changing essentials such as nappies, wipes, nappy creams and a change of clothes while larger changing bag organisers allow you to keep all the contents of your bag readily accessible. We love the Melobaby nappy wallet and the Ruby and Ginger portable kit.
