Infant needs
baby needsCertain infants may need an individual education plan to fulfil the national curriculum needs. The assistance of outside bodies may comprise voice specialists, school mental health specialists and ergotherapists. Exceptionally, the needs of the infant may be fulfilled by an MCP. At every phase of the derogation, parental information is obtained and communicated.
If the particular need requires counselling by a school psychologist, the parent is asked to meet after an evaluation by the psychologist. Principals are always ready to talk about a child's needs in the context of the Code of Conduct.
The National Working Group on Women and Infant Needs in Emergencies in the USA
Hurricane Katrina's massive turmoil was a wake-up call for U.S. contingency and response programme makers, as well as for mother and children healthcare workers, as it became clear er that many urban and state contingency planning did not take into consideration the specific needs of two of the most vulnerable groups in such events: expectant mothers and the newborn.
After Katrina, the members of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood set up a working group to develop a set of policies for state and municipal governments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), groups and individual persons to meet the needs of these endangered groups in the critical phases of an outbreak.
Known as the WISP (Women and Infos Services Package), these policies provide a set of basic and primary measures necessary to address the basic needs of expectant mother, newborn, frail newborn and infant in a situation of acute distress or distress, such as a major catastrophe, plague, epidemic oder terror outbreak.
In 2006, the Group concluded a comprehensive revision of current contingency strategies at the Bund and Länder levels and paid little or no special consideration to this subpopulation. These and other groups' endeavours have been a catalytic for greater awareness of the subject, and national, state and organisational levels are making an effort to close these readiness gap.
