The British baby article market is dominating by Johnson & Johnson with 35%.....
The UK babycare market recorded a 4% increase in value to a retail value of around 418 million in 2012, while overall volumes grew by 2%.... However, the growing trend for female return to work much more quickly after motherhood holidays and the higher incidence of dual-parent working couples have boosted baby care product demand in recent years.
Senior citizens are regarded as having more financial stability and therefore have more cash to pay for the comfort and maintenance of their baby. Brand innovations and developments have enabled retail and manufacturers to expand the market by using new technology and progressive approach to market. A recent market research study, "Baby and Child-Specific Products in the United Kingdom", found that the most rapidly expanding products in value were baby related products (+6%), toilet articles (5%), personal hygiene (5%) and towels (5%), while all other category grew by around 1% or remained shallow.
Looking at volumes, wiping cloths were the largest (+3%), while all other types recorded an increase of around 1% or less. Until 2012, Johnson & Johnson Ltd. clearly held the market leadership in the UK baby products market with a value contribution of 35%. It is well known in this sector and its name stands for baby grooming.
Even though the company's market shares fell by one percent in 2012 in favour of smaller and smaller brand niches, value added still increased by 2% to £146 million. Johnson's Baby Wipes, Johnson's Baby Skin Care and Johnson's Soft Wash Swim Products are the most popular products, in order of success.
